Report failing septic systems, sewage on the ground, or strong sewage odors; suspicious or illegal dumping, and find out current beach closures. Examples of illegal dumping include: oil or grass clippings, discharge of washing machine and dish washing water, and commercial or industrial chemical discharges.

The Michigan Department on Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) PEAS 24-hour hotline should be used to report environmental emergencies such as tanker accidents, pipeline breaks, and releases of reportable quantities of hazardous substances.
