Report failing septic systems, sewage on the ground, or strong sewage odors; suspicious or illegal dumping, and find out current beach closures. Examples of illegal dumping include: oil or grass clippings, discharge of washing machine and dish washing water, and commercial or industrial chemical discharges.

The St. Clair County Tipline is open 24hrs. Be prepared to give the following information: Location of the pollution source (provide an exact address if known) and the responsible party, if known.

Report Emergencies to the Michigan Pollution Emergency Alerting System Hotline

The Michigan Department on Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) PEAS 24-hour hotline should be used to report environmental emergencies such as tanker accidents, pipeline breaks, and releases of reportable quantities of hazardous substances. This phone number rings into EGLE’s answering service which is staffed 24 hours a day.
